House Project | Antique Door Turned Headboard

Find of the decade!!!!!!!!!

We stumbled upon a yard sale in the salt lake city avenues a few weeks ago, and ended up with a bunch of good treasures. This old door was our very favorite and had a price tag of only $25.
We decided to keep the door as is. So with just a little bit of sanding, we removed any loose paint particles. Then topped it off  with about 6 coats of poly! We left the hardware and old nails in it too! So what are we going to do with this beauty you ask?

HEADBOARD! It is the perfect piece for a little cabin tucked away in the trees! Are you dying? We are dying!!

What other cool things have you seen done with old doors? We'd love some more inspiration for the next time we stumble upon a piece like this!

Events | Old Church Wedding

Well, we had a chance to help decorate a wedding a couple weekends ago and we wanted to share the finished goodness! And you won't even believe it, but we made our own floral arrangements. All of them....I know.

This small open house was held at a LDS Church on about 8th East and 4th South in Salt Lake City, Utah. The church has been around for years and has such beautiful little details. The beautiful venue made our jobs fairly easy. Please enjoy this little recap!

A Painted Nest has the perfect pieces to create a fun gift area!

One of the bride's colors was purple and you should have seen how purple the tree welcoming the guests was! What a perfect touch. That frame is a favorite ikea purchase.

Lanterns lined the walkway, with little bouquets tied to each Shepard hook.

We picked up cheap purple fabric scraps in various shades from a local fabric shop.

Another Painted Nest piece utilized as the sign in table.

We were pretty proud of our first time tapping into floral arranging! We woke up early and hit up costco and purchased any bouquets with purple!

Tip: We used mini rubber hair elastics to bustle the tablecloths. Easy way to manipulate length.

The reception area had 9 gorgeous windows. All framed with this gorgeous dark wood, we added some pictures, topiarys, and muslin columns.

How To | Paint A Ceramic Vase

With the weather finally starting to resemble summer, some of you may have been thinking about getting your yard in order or looking for some fresh new decor pieces for your home!

Today we hope to inspire you with a tutorial on how to take that old vase you've had in your garage, or your latest thrift store find, into a "like-new" piece!

First, find a vase you love. Don't worry about color, focus on shape and detail. The color can be changed so easily! We found ours at the DI for a whole 5 bucks.

Second, grab some liquid sander at your local hardware store and follow the directions on the bottle. It'll get some of that bad paint off and prepare your vase for new paint. Home Depot stocks it for about $7.00

Third, choose your new vase color and get some rust-resistant spray paint! We wanted a bronze metallic finish on ours, but options are endless. Walmart stocks spray paint and it's usually under $6.00. Oh, and shake your can like crazy prior to spraying!

Fourth, do a couple coats to make sure the old paint is covered completely. Going outside and using a drop cloth are two really good ideas when spray painting.

Fifth, Ta-da! Find the perfect spot for your vase once it is completely dry. How about in your entry way? The side of your fireplace? Next to a fabulous table?
Oh by the way, the topiary pictured was at a home decor store in the damaged goods section. We were able to buy it for $10 because it's original vase was broken. Always check the bruised and bashed sections at your favorite shops. We always find unexpected goodies!
